Sezai Taskin (grandfather of the present chairman of the board) started to provide marine engines service in 1932. His son Çetin Taskin founded the yard in 1957. Initially only small, chromium and steel high speed boats were built. They achieved remarkable 60 miles/hour.
In 1979 Taşkınlar Shipyard Inc.was established to meet the demands of a rapidly raising number of customers inside Turkey due to high speed and durable fishing vessel constructions. Furthermore Taşkınlar Shipyard Inc. gained international reputation as the winner of the U.S boat fair in Chicago for the best fishing vessel design.
In the 90ies, the company started to build sailing and motor yachts, transportation vessels and multi-purpose vessels. The new shipyard area near Gerze will be completed 2010. Meanwhile, the company built over 80 ships with length between 22-70 meters. In addition, 40-50 ships are maintained per year. Also Taşkınlar Shipyard Inc. maintains the tug vessels of the TCCD Ports (Turkish State Railways) since 1995.
